Embarking on a journey fueled by only two things “a dream and a deep passion for fixing things”, I was fully aware that persistent hard work, would inevitably translate into tangible success.

When I chose Canada as my home over four decades ago I carried with me, the belief that honesty, diligence and hard work would pave the way for the realization of the Canadian dream. My initial job in automobile transmission re-manufacturing marked the beginning of a life-long interesting career, every transmission I fixed, in many ways were  different. I developed a clear sense of understanding the typical problems and weaknesses among all of the different makes and models. These experiences played a major role as newer technology surfaced. Vehicle transmissions have become highly complexed requiring maximum focus to diagnose and repair them properly.

I dedicated eleven (11) years, working with the largest remanufacturing transmission plant in Toronto back in the 1980s, I was a Master Builder, proficient in over thirty (30) different types of transmissions.

Following the phasing out of the company I worked for, my journey continued with the acquisition of my first shop PowerShift Transmissions, twentyseven (27) years ago, driven by overall commitment to serve customers with more passion.

With 43 years of expertise, PowerShift has evolved into a hub for rebuilding a diverse array of transmissions for virtually every brand driving on North American roads. My love for the craft is so profound that I used to dream about transmissions for decades, a sentiment that still endures. This is the idea that encapsulates the PowerShift tagline. “One Shift Beyond Excellence.”

At PowerShift, our work ethic revolves around doing a comprehensive job initially, while eliminating the need for rework, as there is no room for errors that might bring customers back with a malfunctioning vehicle. We adhere to a meticulous process of dismantling each transmission, scrutinizing every component with precision. Any part/s found to be less than perfect is promptly replaced with a NEW OEM part. Ensuring that we can confidently proclaim the transmission as entirely remanufactured, providing our customers with a renewed vehicle.

Transparency is at the core of our customer relations. We communicate openly about the necessary repairs needed, providing a steadfast quote that remains unchanged even if additional issues surface during the repair process, unlike other shops that defer pricing until the transmission is disassembled. Our policy is to offer a clear estimate from the outset, relying on the symptoms identified during the diagnosis, and we are correct almost 100% of the time.

I will end with this; transmissions constitute a complex and costly component in a vehicle, and acknowledging the crucial role vehicles play in people’s day-to-day lives, our unwavering goal at PowerShift, is to do the job right the first time.
